Delonte West, an NBA guard for the Cavaliers was arrested on Thursday night after police found he was carrying three loaded guns.
Delonte, 26, is a native of the D.C. area. Authorities say he was traveling north on the Beltway in a Can-Am Spyder, a three wheel motorcycle, when he cut off an officer near Route 214. He was pulled over for making an unsafe lane change. West informed the officer that he had a handgun in his wasteband.
The officer called for backup and ordered a search of the vehicle. A Beretta 9mm, Ruger. 357 magnum and a shotgun were uncovered in the search. The shotgun was found within a guitar case on West’s back.
West was charged with two criminal counts of carrying a handgun and was issued with a traffic citation for driving “in excess of reasonable and prudent speed.”
He was released Friday morning and is scheduled to appear in court on November 20.
