Now that the New Year has started, everyone wants to lose weight. And the first thing most people do is go out and buy a book on dieting. Since consumers trust doctors, they usually buy books written by doctors on weight loss.
One the latest books out to help people lose weight is Dr Colbert’s “I can do this” diet. This $20 book goes into a lot of boring details like calories, body chemistry and metabolism. All this stuff that had been written and rehashed a million times.
Dr Colbert’s claims that after reading his book every one can lose weight- because somehow you will understand more about your body. But wait there is more, you can eat all the food you love and lose 6 pounds a month. If you hate reading you can listen to the audio CD in the car. So far Dr Colbert has not claimed that you can lose weight by only listening to the audio.
Wait, you can even get a personal health Improvement kit and a toxic relief book for detoxification- of course these cost more.
The diet plan book gives a lot of recipes and menus. One day one your eat a meal marked “your favorite” and the daily calorie intake is 1800; yet you lose a pound every four days. He does not go much into exercise.
There is zero evidence that Dr Colbert’s diet plan works. There are a few testimonials but how reading a book leads to weight loss is a mystery. If you want to lose weight, reading is not the away to go about it.
Losing weight is simple. Eat less and walk more.
Dr Colbert’s book is a great if you have run out of firewood or have a friend who is bored and wants to read something exciting on neurotransmitters, insulin resistance and glycemic index.
Consumers should understand that when doctors have diet books on sale at amazon.com, they are usually trying to make money. The only thing you will lose by reading Dr Colbert’s “I can do this” diet plan is your hard earned money- start walking today.
What is Wegener’s Granulomatosis?

Wegener’s disease is a very rare disorder which presents with inflammation of the lung and kidneys. The disorder is classified as a vasculitis meaning it causes inflammation of small blood vessels. The disorder tends to affect the nose, throat, lungs and kidney.
It can affect other organ in the body in the later stages. Wegener’s granulomatosis usually occurs in childhood but most people are diagnosed after a long delay. Typical symptons are often present in the 2nd-3rd decade of life.
The classical symptoms are loss of weight, no appetite, face or nose pain, low grade fever, fatigue, blood in the urine, runny or congested nose, nose bleeds, cough, ear infections, wheezing, joint pains or a skin rash.
The disorder is quite difficult to diagnose as many physicians never suspect it or have no clue about it. Testing includes checking for certain antibodies and most people need a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
Chest x-rays are always done when Wegener’s is suspected. A classical feature of this disorder is a deformed or a saddle nose appearance.
Wegener’s is life threatening and needs treatment. In most cases long term corticosteroids and immune suppressing drugs are used. The drugs are potent and have many side effects. There is no cure for Wegener’s and relapses are common. Those patients whose disease is controlled by medications do okay but those who have continued relapses do poor.
Was Tiger Woods abused by his wife?

A lot of rumors have been circulating that Tiger Woods had numerous facial injuries and had his teeth knocked out during the car accident. Some even went further suggesting that Tiger’s wife, Elin, clubbed him in the face and gave him a fat lip. Initial reports suggested that Tiger’s face was moderately messed up enough and he was seeking plastic surgery.
However, police reports indicate otherwise. Just after the crash, Woods did meet with Florida highway patrol and no such injuries were recorded.
According to three police officers who met Woods and his attorney, no visible physical injuries were present except for a fat lip; the police officers did not suspect any type of spousal abuse. Woods was observed to be polite, quickly signed the traffic citation and left.
Said the police spokesman about Woods facial injuries, “All these rumors of these injuries are false.”
Well, the world most famous sporting personality has now become invisible. So far both Woods and his wife have declined to speak to reporters.
His traffic incident is now closed and we will never know whether he had a fat lip or any other injury But we do know from all his blonde girlfriends that Tiger Woods’ does have a Fat “club.”

The other great thing is that many stores have the same price online as the retail store.

While this year may not have been a red letter one for earnings, consumers have been able to find amazing After Christmas sales this year on the heels of great Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals. Retailers announced their major After Christmas Sales today, and there are some really good ones, especially at Circuit City, Best Buy, Macy’s, Wal-Mart, KMART and Dell.
Online retailer Circuit City, freshly under new ownership took the lead in the electronics sector, with an aggressive set of After Christmas sales, announced today. Popular at the online retailer are the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3), and a variety of HDTV’s, all priced to move with significant After Christmas sale discounts.
Online retailer Tiger Direct, which has been desperately trying to establish itself in the face of stiff competition from Best Buy and Amazon, has offered an amazing set of After Christmas sales, which may very well steal customers from online giants like Amazon and Best Buy.

Wal mart Christmas Opening hours
With Christmas just hours away, Wal-Mart has decided to keep the store open until 6 pm on Christmas Eve. This will give shoppers ample time to get that last minute X mas gift or a great deal at the retail store. Wal-Mart is definitely closed on Friday the 25 and then reopens on Dec 26 from 7 am to 11 pm.
Wal-Mart opens on Dec 27- 30 at the same as the day before Christmas. On New Year’s Eve wal-mart is open from 7 am to 6 pm

Shy drager Disease

Shy drager syndrome or shy drager disease is a very rare brain disorder that affects control of the body’s autonomic nervous system. This system controls your blood pressure, heart rate, vision, bowel and bladder functions.
The disorder has many features similar to Parkinson’s disease like slowness, muscle rigidity and poor balance. Other features of this disorder include a very low blood pressure, dizziness and feeling lightheaded. Some individuals also develop very high blood pressure when lying down. As the disease progresses, other symptoms include bladder incontinence, constipation, slurred speech, blurred vision, difficulty swallowing and inability to control emotions.
The disorder usually occurs in the 50s and is progressive; the condition is more common in men than women.
No one knows why this disorder develops but brain scans show generalized shrinkage of the brain which controls the autonomic nervous system. So far no cause has been found.
The disorder is often confused with Parkinson’s disease but the low blood pressure is the key to diagnosis. Shy drager is treated with medications to increase blood pressure and other anti Parkinsonian drugs.
However, the majority of individual do not respond to drugs and the disease continues. Other aspects of treatment include pacemaker to control slow heart rate, incontinence care and feeding tubes.
Most people rapidly become disabled and have a poor prognosis.
