Pre-eclampsia is a serious medical disorder which occurs during pregnancy. It is often marked by an increase in blood pressure and excretion of excess protein the urine. The disorder typically starts in the second trimester of pregnancy around 20-22 weeks. When untreated or the diagnosis is missed, it can be fatal for both the mother and the baby.

Preeclampsia usually starts slow at 20 weeks but does get worse with time. Pregnant females will usually present with high blood pressure, blurred vision, headaches, pain in the upper abdomen, extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting and decreasing urine output. Swelling of the hands and face is common.

Why pre-eclampsia occurs is not well understood but the condition is more likely to occur in young obese females who are pregnant for the first time. Pre eclampsia causes loss of blood supply to the fetus and when severe can induce seizures in the mother. The disorder is relatively easy to diagnose and admission to a hospital is mandatory. The only treatment for preeclampsia is to deliver the baby.

However, if the time for delivery is not ripe then one may require medications to lower blood pressure, corticosteroids, anti seizure medications and bed rest. Preeclampsia is a frightening disorder with serious complications.

Doctors recommend that anyone with high blood pressure or generalized swelling of the body during pregnancy should go and see health care professional immediately.

In the latest issue of playboy, Sean Combs (iddy) reveals an up and closer look at his early sexual curiosity. Sean claims that at the tender age of seven, he tried to lose his virginity to a ten year old. While most prepubertal boys were learning to ride the tricycle, Sean claims that he was very much aware of sexual feelings. He mentions, “I tried to lose my virginity when I was seven years old. When asked to comment about the reports a few days ago, Rachel did not say a word but according to US TV news show Extra, Rachel has shown an interest in revealing her curves and skin to the men’s magazine.

Uchitel, 34 was the first female who was publicly linked to Tiger Woods. While she has continued to deny a sexual relationship, there is a strong feeling that “hush money” paid by Tiger has something to do with the silence. How much money has been paid is not known, but sources close to Rachel say it is in the millions.

Some feel that the close association to Tiger has now got the Nike influence on Rachel- “just do it” and show the world.

Fergie and Josh walked down the red carpet last night at the Los Angeles premier of her new musical Nine. Wearing a tight black low cut front dress, it was her cleavage which was the most eye catching part of her body. This was the first time the couple had made a major public appearance since a stripper from Atlanta claimed that she had a sexual fling with Duhamel. So far both Duhamel and Fergie have denied the strippers assertions.

On Wednesday night, there did not appear to be any trouble between the two. All night long, they appeared like a romantic couple holding hands. For most of the evening Duhamel even had his arms around her and also kissed her a few times on the forehead.  However, like the rest of the people and media, it appeared that he was constantly looking at Fergie’s cleavage during most of the show.

After the event, the couple appeared cozy and said that they were looking forward to the holiday season. Said Duhamel, “I am just gonna spend it with my wife and her family this year.”

So far there is no word if the stripper, Nicole Forrester, has had anything to do with Tiger Woods’!

Oslo, the capital of Norway is a city most famous for its banking, shipping and fishing industries. It is a major shipping center and has some of the largest shipping companies and ship brokers established in the country. Oslo, like most Scandinavian cities, is clean, eco friendly but is also one of the most expensive cities in the world. With a population of 1.4 million, this is the fastest growing city in Europe and nearly 25% of its population are other migrants, chiefly from the eastern block countries.

Oslo means “mouth of the Lo River” referring to the name of the river alna nearby. Oslo has a rich cultural history and all over the country one can see beautiful landmarks from the past. However modernization has caught up with Oslo and most slums have been erased. Oslo is a very modern city with exceptionally beautiful surrounding areas. Oslo  has some of the best parks and recreational facilities in all of Europe. However, most of Norway suffers  from congestion.

For the tourist, there is a lot to see in Oslo. The city has many museums, monuments and offers great shopping. However, Norway is extremely expensive and does not cater to the budget conscious traveler. Hotels are exorbitantly expensive and so is the food. A cup of coffee in Oslo can cost anywhere from $4-$7. An average 3 star hotel costs more than $300-$400 a night.

President Obama is on a visit to Oslo to accept his Nobel Prize, but his airfare, hotel accommodation and food are provided by the US government. For the rest of us, Norway is best viewed using the Google eye view or surfing images on yahoo.

Well, this may be it for Tiger. Finally, the world will find out why he has so been good at eagling all the blondes. There is word that nude pictures of Tiger Woods are available and may be published by playgirl magazine if the pictures are authenticated. Sources from playgirl say that they have received an offer to purchase pictures of this new American Sex Star.

Yesterday Playgirl rep Daniel Nardicio said, “We were approached by a third party who wanted to know our ‘interest level. Our lawyers are currently going over them, the source, the entire package.”  Daniel added that the pictures would only be bought if they are confirmed to be that of Tiger Woods.

For Tiger Woods, his world must be crumbling. Yesterday, Gatorade announced that it had now severed ties with the world’s most famous golfer who is reported to have earned over a billion dollars in his career. The majority of Woods earnings have been from lucrative financial endorsements and sponsorships.

As soon as the scandal began, Tiger immediately thanked his sponsors on his website. However, at that time it was believed that Tiger Woods had only eagled one blonde. The last count is 11 but Gatorade said that the decision to drop Woods was made a few months ago.

Yesterday, Elin Nordegren’s mother was taken to a nearby hospital and later released.It is not known if this had anything to do with the unfolding story of Tiger Woods or the size of Tiger’s “club” which is set to appear in playgirl if things go well.

Sodium thiopental, also known as thiopental, is one of the oldest drugs in the pharmacopeia. It was one of the first short acting sedatives used in clinical practice. The drug is classified as a brain depressant and very rarely used today because of the availability of safer and less toxic drugs.

Sodium thiopental is classified as a barbiturate and works on certain brain chemicals and induces sleep. The drug is given intravenously during general anesthesia and induces sleep within a few seconds. However, the drug rapidly undergoes distribution to other parts of the body and its effects wear off in 5-15 minutes.

Thiopental is still used in veterinary medicine to put animals to sleep. The drug is very rarely used in hospitals all over the world chiefly because much safer and effective drugs are available. Thiopental is now used in some states as a lethal injection. It is used in combination with a muscle relaxant drug like pancuronium followed by potassium. Once the individual is fast asleep, and the body relaxed, potassium chloride is injected which stops the heart. The procedure is said to be painless and complication free. In fact, the biggest problem with executing prisoners with intravenous drugs is the finding of decent veins for injecting the drug. Since physicians do not take part in executing prisoners, inexperienced people have difficulty finding veins to inject the drugs.

Thiopental has a number of side effects including a drop in blood pressure, arresting breathing and inducing coma.

Thiopental is also a frequently abused drug and usually stolen from pharmacies or from veterinarians.

While Tiger Woods has been having problems with women and getting negative media attention, John Daly has been in positive spotlight for once. Looking trim and slim like a true athlete, the new John with his colorful outfit has finally gotten rid of his belly. John Daly  has been in Australia for the past few weeks and has lost over 100 pounds following a laparoscopic banding weight loss surgery.

While at a press conference in Australia, John was in his usual talkative mood and said, “I just saw Matt Damon, how he swung a golf club, and I thought if I ever made a movie, I want him to be me,” Daly said. “The tough part is who would play me at 290 pounds. Now Kevin James, he’s my bud, but he’d be good.”

When asked what type of story line the movie would like to portray, he added, “It would just be the life; it would be the whole thing. the guts of it all. The problem is who is going to play all the ex-wives?” added Daly, who has four ex-wives.

John Daly had lap band surgery about 9 months ago and so far has done well. The problem now for John is to make sure  that he does not put the weight back on otherwise he may have to be replaced in the movie by a sumo wrestler.

Laparoscopic gastric banding does work in reducing weight, but many people do re-gain weight in the second year.

Bryant Gumbel, the host of “ HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” is being treated for lung cancer. Bryant recently underwent surgery to remove a growth in his lung. The lung mass is definitely cancerous and he is undergoing the standard cancer treatment.

Bryant Gumbel has been a long time smoker and smoking is a known risk factor for lung cancer. Bryant was a guest recently  on the “Live! With Regis & Kelly” show and talked about his cancer.

Gumbel told the viewers that he had not been feeling well and went to his doctor and subsequent work up revealed a suspicious lung mass.

Said Bryant, “They opened up my chest; they took a malignant tumor, part of my lung and some other goodies. The pathology on most of the stuff came back benign but enough aggressive cells had escaped the tumor that it warranted some treatment.”

Gumbel kept the diagnosis and treatment details private until now, “We had told a few people. We told my family, obviously,” Gumbel said. “I even kept it from my staff at ‘Real Sports. ”

Lung cancer is a leading cause of death in both men and women who smoke. The treatment of lung cancer is usually surgery combined with radiation or chemotherapy and the results overall are poor if the diagnosis is delayed. Lung cancer is a preventable disorder says the American Cancer Society.

Gumbel went on to say, “I’m OK for the time being.” He added that he will undergo more testing and follow up over the next few months and hopefully get the all clear to move on back with his life.

Lips are a fascinating part of our face. Most people tend to define lips as luscious, plump or sexy. However, medically the lips also have anatomical names like the philtrum and vermilion border.
