Sexting or sharing of explicit sexual language and pictures is quite common. In the old days, this was done in the privacy of homes. However, with the availability of digital technology, mobile phones and wifi, it seems Sexting is a common activity among people of all ages. Many young teenagers and adults who have been surveyed indicate that these individuals often share sexually explicit pictures of themselves with their so called friends or buddies. Moreover, transmission of sexually explicit pictures of others is even more common.
Despite the awareness that sexting can result in ridicule, Sexting has reached epidemic proportion. At least 1 in 3 women have been asked by strangers or friends online to send in nude pictures of themselves. Men, on the other hand, send their nude pictures without being asked.
Some even sextext while driving and a number of car accidents have been reported during this activity. This form of arousal is unique and most people seem to think that unlike cyberspace, Sexting is more private.
The majority of women who sextext say they do it because they are in love. Boys on the other hand say they just want to see a naked girl and do not mind sharing the photo with friends. Boys call Sexting “erotic” and girls call it “slutty.”
While Sexting may start off as a joke; it can cost someone their job. Employers are very reticent about employing people engaging in such behavior.
What most people do not realize is that many states have laws against sending nude pictures. Experts say that once you have your naked picture online, it is impossible to retrieve it. And the long term consequences can mean embarrassment, ridicule and even job loss.
