The David Letterman Saga Continues

Since the revelation 2 weeks ago about David letterman’s love life with his female colleague(s) at CBS, the story seems to be getting more interesting.

First there was the alleged $2 million blackmail plot and then more particulars about the late night show host’s office romance have appeared. Friends and colleagues of Letterman divulge that his love life has been strange and muddled.

At the center of his affair is his long time assistant, Stephanie Birkittt, with whom the relationship existed prior to his marriage to Regina Lasko. Lasko, 48, has dated Letterman for 20 years and is the mother of his 5 year old son, Harry. While Letterman claims that this affair ceased after his marriage, insiders say otherwise. There are some who claim that David continued “hanky panky” with Stephanie after his marriage.

Others claim that Regina was fully aware of David’s ongoing affair with Stephanie while he remained engaged to her. Why Regina put up with David all these years remains a mystery but it is obvious she is crazy about him.
While the other news networks have been having a good laugh at David’s love life, CBS is now intertwined in a “civil war” at home. Sources claim that CBS is trying to discover more information on the producer who tried to blackmail Letterman. Robert Halderman’s has pleaded not guilty of trying to extract $2 million from the late night show host in exchange for keeping the comedian’s sexual trysts quiet.

However, employees who work for the “48 hours” show are unhappy and would like to distance themselves from both David and Halderman. According to the New York Post, it was Halderman’s jealousy over the purported affair that provoked the discontented producer to black mail David.

While Letterman has seen a jump in ratings in the midst of his scandal, his acknowledgment of his bizarre behavior has also ruined his professional reputation, especially among colleges who routinely dispatch female interns to work for the “The Late Show.”

Two days ago, Quinnipiac University Professor Grace Levine stated that she would definitely make all her students aware about the “contentious stand-up comedian’s” sexual escapades, adding that she would “be remiss in just trying to ignore this,” referring to Letterman’s confession that he had several sexual relationships with female staff.

David in the meantime has asked for some vacation time and we all know what he will be doing- keeping his pants zipped and working on his marriage or at least trying to salvage whatever he can from this real mess.
